Pressing On was started in March 2009 in the Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans Louisiana. Unfortunately across the country as youth get older the opportunities provided for them by the community diminish. After school care, youth groups, clubs, and even rec sporting events offer fewer opportunities. Pressing On seeks to fit in that gap for mostly young men from high school through young adulthood.
It seems like most young men I speak to play basketball. It seems rare when somebody will admit to me that they don’t play basketball. By using this mutual passion, and providing a safe place to play as well as dinner we seek to earn the right to be heard.
Half way through our night we pause for “Half time.” The goal is to take 10-15 minutes to develop leadership, build character, anhelp these young men become all that God intended for them to be

Saw your ministry and was wondering if you could use a tract I wrote called Meet My Head Coach. Today it’s in something like 13 languages and used by ministries like yours that use basketball to share Christ. I need and email address to send you a pdf file with them on it. Coach John Wooden has his own version of it for Athletes in Action. God bless you as you serve Him through basketball in your own mission field.
